Some Days - Old Days, New Days, Other Days DRCT005
Embark on a sonic journey with this latest release from Dental Records, unveiling a compilation of tracks that are making their debut as a tangible physical release. Spanning a decade, these 20 audio recordings emerged from the enigmatic atmosphere of the Maria's Underground recording studio in Dana Point, California, between 2007 and 2017. Within the smoky chemically fueled confines of the studio, a revolving door of musicians brought these recordings to life. As Nucleus Member Anthony Matarazzo once mused, 'Some days you're in, some days you're out,' reflecting the unpredictable nature of those sessions. Amidst the popular imagery of Dana Point's sunshine, surfboards, and affluent youth self-proclaimed as goths on the beach, this album reveals the concealed underbelly, a lesser-known, contrasting narrative to the region's well-trodden map.

" Wrecked rock ‘n’ roll a la Sonny Vincent or Alex Chilton from Tony Matarazzo, member of Grand Elegance, FM Bats, Jail Weddings a while back and more. They have that total New York City darkside vibe, where fucked-up-but-lovin’-it dudes would swap in and out of each other’s bands and end up half-laughing in the studio. [It] sounds like they all had a cigarette dangling from the mouth during each and every song.. I’m reminded of that part in the Lester Bangs essay where Richard Hell says a real emotion dies every time you laugh, and they finish the interview with a lot of desperate ha-ha-ha-ha's. "
